An overview is a paragraph that contains all the key features of the chart or graph in IELTS task 1 and these points are all included in an overview paragraph. The overview is very crucial in writing IELTS task 1 as it is important for task achievement.

Should a conclusion and an overview be together? 

An overview and a conclusion should not be written together as this will be dividing your key features into two different places and affect the criteria of coherence and cohesion, which is all about paragraphs.

The overview should always be after the introduction. However, it can also be put at the end of the report after the body paragraph. Although, some people may prefer it after the introduction as they like to read all the main points before reading the all details in the IELTS writing task 1.
